About the LitSIG
AATIA's
Literary Special Interest Group has been meeting since the early 1990s to
share work, critique one another's translations, ask questions about their
interpretations, solutions, and prospects, and provide one another moral
support and real solutions to real translation and publishing problems. LitSIG
also serves as a resource for anyone looking for a literary translator or
seeking prompt and useful answers to literary translation questions. The
group welcomes all literary translators, from beginner to pro, and meets
on a bimonthly basis.
In the fall of 2003, Pangloss
Publishing put out Thresholds: An Anthology of World Literature from
the Heart of Texas, the culmination of a two-year collaboration by ten
members. In November 2003, he group did readings from the anthology at
the Texas Book Festival in Austin and
at the annual meeting of the American Literary Translators Association in
Cambridge, Massachusetts. In December the Texas Institute of Letters named
Thresholds a finalist for the Soeurette Diehl Frasier Translation
Prize.
