AATIA - Austin Area Translators and Interpreters Association

Spanish Special
Interest Group

Coordinators:
Leo Bello & Susana Roca Smith

Statement of purpose

To provide professional development opportunities through lively dialog and thought-provoking presentations at bimonthly meetings, group commentary and problem-solving for member-submitted work-in-progress queries, encourage resource sharing and distribute through monthly mailings linguistic gems and oddities harvested from solicited member submissions and available sources within the editor's survey reach.

Membership requirements

SpanSIG members must be members of the Austin Area Translators and Interpreters Association (AATIA), and be engaged in, or interested in Spanish-to-English and/or English-to-Spanish translation.

Bimonthly meetings

Bimonthly meetings always provide and encourage open dialog on terminology and related subjects. SpanSIG meets on the second Saturday of odd-numbered months at the Austin History Center, beginning at 10 a.m. (AATIA holds its regular meetings in the same place on the same day at 1 p.m.)

Mailing list

SpanSIG members and friends participate in an electronic mailing list (also called a listserv) offering suggestions for troublesome terms that colleagues post. Messages and replies posted to this mailing list will show up in a subscriber's inbox. Contact the Coordinators for information on subscribing to this free service.
